Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a respiratory disease in which the mucus membrane in the lungs’ bronchial passages becomes inflamed. As the irritated membrane swells and grows thicker, it narrows or shuts off the tiny airways in the lungs, resulting in coughing spells that may be accompanied by phlegm and breathlessness.

The disease comes in two formsacute (lasting from one to three weeks) and chronic (lasting at least 3 months of the year for two years in a row). People with asthma may also have asthmatic bronchitis, inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes.

CAUSES OF BRONCHITIS

  1. INFECTIONS: The bronchitis infection can be caused by either a virus or bacteria, although viral bronchitis is much more common. In most cases, bronchitis is caused by the same viruses that cause the common cold or flu. The virus is contained in the millions of tiny droplets that come out of the nose and mouth when someone coughs or sneezes
  2. IRRITANTS: Bronchitis can also be triggered by breathing in irritant substances, such as smog, chemicals in household products or tobacco smoke. Smoking is the main cause of long-term (chronic) bronchitis, and it can affect people who inhale second-hand smoke, as well as smokers themselves.
  1. OCCUPATIONAL: Occupational exposure to certain things like Grain dust, Textiles (fabric fibres), Ammonia, Strong acids, Chlorine, This is sometimes referred to as “occupational bronchitis“, and usually eases once you are no longer exposed to the irritant substance.

SYMPTOMS OF BRONCHITIS

  1. Cough with yellowish/greenish mucus
  2. Shortness of breath
  3. Wheezing i.e. whistling sounds in the chest while breathing
  4. Tightness of chest or pain in chest
  5. Low grade fever

COMPLICATIONS

  1. Secondary infection in the lungs leading to Pneumonia
  2. Emphysema, a condition in which the lungs get abnormally expanded, preventing breathing
  3. Respiratory failure

HOMEOPATHIC MANAGEMENT

Homeopathic treatment is targeted towards UPROOTING THE DISEASE and ensuring health with no side effects. For prescribing to an individual, a PLAN OF TREATMENT is followed which involves:
  1. GETTING THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING OF CASE which includes complete case taking (analyzing patient as an individual) along with patient history and family history
  2. DIAGNOSIS OF PATIENT AND DISEASE
  3. INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT OF THE CASE
  4. PRESCRIBING THE MOST SUITABLE INDIVIDUAL CONSTITUTIONAL REMEDY
